Today is Tuesday, October 16th, 2007; Karen's Korner #1167

A poem shared with us by Dick Ashpole, a 92 year old Clarion resident. Even at his advanced age, he recalls many things which he learned in his younger years. This is one of them which he can recite:

Let me believe in many things,
God...since that is faith's beginning
The faith to which one longest clings
through age and illness, grief, and sinning.

Let me believe in something more
Than something seen my soul explore
The life beyond that I may borrow
Something today from some tomorrow.

Let me believe in other hearts
Not all condemn when one deceives me
Remembering when love departs
That it is only one who grieves me.

Let me believe, although belief,
Like man must have some hours of grief
let not my faithless friend undo me
But draw the others closer to me.

Let me believe in morning skies
In days to be in years to follow
Oh give me hope that never dies
That spring will bring the sun and swallow.

Let me believe in hours of strife
In the eternal good of life
Whatever sorrow seems to rend it
Let me believe that time will mend it.
