Today is Tuesday, January 8th, 2008; Karen's Korner #1227

Another installment of exerpts from my Christmas gift book titled "If there is no God...." by Mark Winter.

If there is no God,
who choreographed the waltz of the planets?

Our solar system is a ballroom where each planet dances a vast minuet around the sun.
The earth alone covers about six hundred million miles every year.

"The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of His hands.
-- Psalm 19:1

If there is no God,
why hasn't man been able to destroy the Bible?

The French skeptic Voltaire once wrote,
"If we would destroy the Christian religion, we must first of all destroy
man's belief in the Bible."
In 1778, fifty years after Voltaire's death,
the Geneva Bible Society converted his home into a publishing firm,
using his own printing press to produce thousands of Bibles.
Truth is not difficult to destroy--it is impossible.

"Your word, O Lord, is eternal;
it stands firm in the heavens."
-- Psalm 119:89

If there is no God,
who's answering all those prayers?

In early 1904, a young Welshman named Evan Roberts
began to pray fervently for a spiritual awakening.
Later that year, a fiery revival swept through Wales,
packing church buildings, decreasing crime, and
increasing productivity in the coal mines.
Policemen even shut down their stations and formed choirs.

"I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer,
believe that you have received it,
and it will be yours.
-- Mark 11:24

If there is no God,
who installed our blood vessels?

Imagine a distribution network that could instantly provide products
to every human being on earth.
Such a system exists in your body, where more than
sixty thousand miles of blood vessels -
enough to wrap around the earth two and half times -
transport nutrients to every cell of the body twenty-four hours a day.

"The life of a creature is in the blood."
-- Leviticus 17:11
