Today is Wednesday, October 15th, 2008; Karen's Korner #1422

(Computer server problems yesterday; sorry. Look for a Karen's Korner on Saturday to make five this week!)

People would have to live in a cave or on another planet to not know that the world is in a financial crisis.

Here are a couple of verses from Psalms 49 which put things in perspective:

Verses 1 - 3:  "Listen, everyone! High and low, rich and poor, all around the world--listen to my words, for they are wise and filled with insights.

5 - 9: "There is no need to fear when times of trouble come, even though surrounded by enemies! They trust in their wealth and boast about how rich they are, yet not one of them, though rich as kings, can ransom his own brother from the penalty of sin! For God's forgiveness does not come that way. For a soul is far too precious to be ransomed by mere earthly wealth. There is not enough of it in all the earth to buy eternal life for just one would, to keep it out of hell."

Commentary surrounding the verse:  "Trusting in wordly possessions is futile. You cannot take possessions with you when you die, and they cannot buy forgiveness of sin. Riches, pride, and fame are futilite from an eternal perspective."
