Today is Wednesday, September 16th, 2009; Karen's Korner #1653

I want to call today's Karen's Korner "Better than I Deserve".

Last night I went for a walk after supper. As I looked at the crops and how fast they are getting ready to be harvest, and how they are reporting that yields may be some of the highest in history, I couldn't help but marvel at both the readiness and the yield potentials. It has been a sometimes wet and sometimes chilly summer. How could we be so fortunate to have such good crops with warm, drying days in September! Both are better than I deserve....

I went on to think about lots of 'better than I deserve' thoughts:

 * I have lots of family and friends, caring relationships far better than I deserve....

 * Over the years I have had small health watches now and then, none materializing into anything worthy of report and at sixty-plus I have health and wellness which is better than I deserve....

 * I have never known hunger or want. I live in a vintage farm home which is been in our family for better than a century. I have not concerned myself with safety issues. Some people have known them their whole life. My living and lifestyle is better than I deserve....

* I have a wealth that makes my lifestyle comfortable and has given me the opportunity to share some of what I have with others. The poorest person in America is still richer than a majority of the world's population, statistics tell us. I have so much more than anything for which I could have hoped; it is better than I deserve....

 * All of us have been given special interests and talents. A couple of mine are organizational, leadership, and communication skills; each of them are better than I deserve....

* I live in a free country where I have lots of opportunities and liberties. Some are not as fortunate as what I experience . They are better than I deserve....

 * I have a background of Christian people who over the years have taught me about Jesus and His Love and Care for me. It changes me and makes me better than I deserve....

Don't get me wrong my life isn't perfect. I don't always behave as I could or should. The country where I live has its fair share of problems. But I feel so blessed and have a life which is better than I deserve....

And when things are going 'right or good', I sometimes think, "It can't get any better than this!", God gently reminds me that this life with some of its aches, pains, and troubles is just the beginning. He has a better place and plan coming for my eternity. One more time:  it is far better than I deserve....
