Today is Thursday, November 4th, 2010; Karen's Korner #1939
One of the good things about Bible Study, Sunday School, or a worship service is that sometimes one verse or couple of verses sort of jump off the pages at you as you study/learn/worship together.
That is what happened to me this week.
The lesson took us to the first couple of verses of Luke, chapter 10. Jesus is sending out seventy 'messengers' on his behalf. But as they are about to go, He gives them several instructions. The first one, "Plead with the Lord of the harvest to send out more laborers to help you, for the harvest is plentiful and the workers are few...."
He is telling them, "Ask Me for My help. Ask Me for more people to help you as you go...."
What caught me attention was what the commentary in my Bible had to say on verse 2: "In Christian service, there are no unemployment lines. God has work enough for everyone. Don't just sit back and watch the others work---look for ways to get in on the harvest."
We hear in the U.S. about unemployment being just under 10%; in God's economy there is no such thing as unemployment. He has given us so much (life, hope, joy, grace, mercy and all the rest) and then there are His fringe benefits (help, peace, love, and a ticket to heaven) which are all out of this world.
What is He asking for His Kingdom?
He is asking us to ask Him for His help and to request more people to help in the harvest.....
,,,,,and after we have done that, we are to GO!!
