With so much unrest and difference of opinion, both in America and around the world; enjoy one more entry from "In God We STILL Trust" by Dr. Richard G. Lee:
Fulfilling Our Responsibilities
"In those days there was no king in Israel,
everyone did what was right in his own eyes."
~ JUDGES 21:25
"U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas recalls that when he was growing up, his grandfather taught him some important foundational lessons about the connection between personal responsibility and liberty: 'What my grandfather believed was that people have their responsibilities and that if they are left alone to fulfill their responsibilities, that is freedom...Honesty and responsibility, those are the things (my grandfather) taught.'
"Justice Thomas added that in today's society, there is not enough emphasis on the responsibilities of all Americans to live in such a way that will maintain and protect the foundations of freedom. 'Too many conversations today have to do with rights and wants,' he noted. 'There is not enough talk about responsibilities and duties.'
"The book of Judges offers a graphic demonstration of the consequences of such self-seeking behavior among the citizens of a nation--and of the need for personal and collective humility, repentance, and steadfast faith in God if a nation is to run back to righteousness."
Patriot's Prayer:
"Lord God, I pray that America, the land that I do love,
will turn once again toward You.
Help us see the need for repentance and restoration to righteousness,
and begin this work today in my own heart."
Patriot's Promise:
"'If My people who are called by My Name will humble themselves,
and pray and seek My Face,
and turn from their wicked ways,
then I will hear from heaven,
and will forgive their sin
and heal their land.'"
~ (2 Chronicles 7:14)
