Today is Thursday, May 12th, 2011; Karen's Korner #2064

Today's thoughts are written by Mary Tesdahl of rural Clarion; she and her husband Al are spending some time in Colorado with their children and grandchildren:

"We watched our granddaughter playing in a pretend tree wearing a squirrel outfit. She collected a good-sized acorn. One was easy to manage and she could have easily made it up the trunk to her nest, but there was a second
acorn that was just too tempting to resist. With e second acorn, she no longer had a free hand to pull herself up the roots to the nest. She would start up the slope just to slide back down. A third acorn caught her eye. Now she had a new problem. As soon as she tried to pick up the third, one of the other two popped out. She never did make it up the trunk.

"Are we like that in life? We keep grabbing for more when what we have is sufficient?  We get distracted by what is right in front of us and lose track of the end goal?

"If we can't hold it in two hands, maybe we have sharing quantities. May we use our personal talents, gifts, resources, and opportunities to serve God and others with joy and gratitude."
