Today is Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011; Karen's Korner #2137

A couple of weeks ago a carload of us attended a morning movie in Mason City put on by our local bank. "Soul Surfer", an early summer release, has as its opening scene a family of five rushing to an outdoor, contemporary service near their home in Hawaii.

The praise team at the church service was singing, "Blessed be the Name of the Lord.......You give and Take away.....Blessed be the Name of the Lord!"

The signifigance of the song was engulfed in the story of Bethany Hamilton, the young surfer girl who survived a shark attack which left her surviving but losing her left arm. The movie showcases her struggles of learning to live again with one arm, not two.

As the lyrics say, "He gives and takes away. Blessed be Your Name".

Blessed be Your Name Lord
By Matt & Beth Redman

Blessed be Your name in the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name
And blessed be Your name when I'm found in the
desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed be your name

Every blessing You pour out I'll turn back
to praise
And when the darkness closes in Lord
Still I will say

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

Blessed be Your name when the sun's shining
down on me
When the world's all as it should be
Blessed be Your name
And blessed be Your name on the road marked
with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering
Blessed be Your name

You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, blessed be Your name
