Today is Wednesday, November 9th, 2011; Karen's Korner #2188

For several months, the Clarion community began to hear rumors about a prominent citizen, Larry Olson, and his need for some additional kidney care. Then came more rumors that a match had been found, if he was a candidate for a kidney transplant. In a small town rumors can abound. Then came more talk that the match was his oldest daughter Annette.

Larry and his wife, Carrie Ann, weren't so sure that was a good idea. After a few months of convincing by Annette, who is a registered nurse. The couple who are in the early seventies relented when Annette told her dad that 'some people live with only one functioning kidney there whole life and don't even know it.'

What a gift of love!

Yesterday was the day!

From the Olson/Odland blog came this updated information: Annette went into surgery at 11:45 a.m. and Larry's surgery began at 12:25 p.m.

I'll let bloggers write the rest of today's 'korner':

2:30 pm. Annette's surgeon just talked to us and reported that she is finished and going to recovery soon. She did well and it was a beautiful kidney. She is awesome and has given the most beautiful gift. The nurse has reported that the kidney has been put into Larry with good blood flow and will return when she has more information.

3:00 pm. Larry's surgeon just talked to us. The surgery went well. The kidney is working and he is in recovery.

We are thankful for the success of the surgery and are so grateful to all of our family and friends for the support and prayers that you have given Larry and Annette and all of us.
