Today is Monday, November 30th, 2015; Karen's Korner #3196

We have ice here today; no school.

The forecast for ice on Thanksgiving Day didn't arrive. But our dinner plans for the day were altered to make sure that others driving in from farther distances and directions, wouldn't have to 'slide' to dinner. Some did have ice.

So now what was I going to do? Especially now that I live alone.

Make new plans.

While I didn't have 'tickets' (for count) to our free community Thanksgiving Dinner, I knew that I'd be welcome. I decided to stop earlier at our local grocery store to purchase relish items for the 'newly rescheduled' family Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday. "Want to come eat with our family?" asked one shopper. "We have extras and enough food."

No, I'd go to the community dinner. But thanks for the invitation.

Bumped into a friend at a convenience store who was now going to be eating alone, because of altered family plans.

"Want to come to the community dinner with me?" I asked.

Yes, she did. I'd pick her up at her house in part of an hour.

Now, what? I still had time with not many things businesses open.

I know, I'd go to our hospital, which has senior housing and assisted living attached, for a little 'hall walking; inside, away from the chilly rains.

There I had the opportunity to wish at least a dozen people "Happy Thanksgiving" who were workers or residents. As long as I had time, I dropped in to Jim's elderly cousin who lives in one of the assisted living apartments, to wish her greetings for the day.

Picked up my friend and ate Thanksgiving dinner with a couple hundred of my closest friends.

Then 'crashed' the family and friend 'party' of my walking friend who had invited me to eat with them if I had no place else to go. No, I wouldn't do that. I had some place else to spend Thursday. Until I didn't!

Different day than I had thought, but it was a good one.

They are all good if God is in them!

He tells us in Jeremiah 29:11:  "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
