Bible Commentary:  This great truth can be hard to grasp. Do we think it is easier for God to love us when we are good? Do we secretly suspect God chose us because we deserved to be chosen? Do we think some people's behavior is so bad that God couldn't possibly save them? If we ever think that way, we don't entirely understand the Good News that salvation is a free gift. It cannot be earned, in whole or in part, it can only be accepted with thankfulness and praise."
