Today is Thursday, August 24th, 2006; Karen's Korner #874

There are a lot of things which are important in our lives as Christians. It is important that we read the Bible and pray. That we go to church on Sunday, attend some Bible study groups, read the newest publications of Christian books, and/or listen Christian radio, music, or television programs.

But I think there is one thing that is above all the rest:  "What is it that we believe?" It is easy to say that we believe what Jesus tells us and what God has for us when:

** the bills are all paid;
** when the family is well;
** when the vehicles are running like they should;
** if all of our family members are doing what we would like for them to be doing;
** we have the jobs of our dream;
** the church is running on all cylinders;
** there hasn't been an untimely death for awhile;
** our prayers have all been answered like we liked.

What happens to us when:

** there is more month than money;
** we are waiting for the medical tests to return;
** we aren't sure of our loved ones will ever again attend church;
    or accept Jesus into their lives;
** when our job has just been terminated;
**  the death wasn't what we expected;
** our prayers look like they are falling on deaf ears?

That is the times that the devil whispers in one ear, "Nothing will ever change!"; "It won't work out!"; "Your prayer will never be answered!"

The Holy Spirit will whisper into your other ear, "What do you believe?"

That's when we have a choice.......even when we don't have the answer, the money, the job, the improved health situation, or some other dream!!

Jesus said to him,
"If you can believe,
all things are possible to him who believes."
~~ Mark 9:23

**
"Father God, help us to believe. We know, we learn, we read.
Now help us to do it!
When fear and fright want to overtake us;
when we don't know the answer or the outcome.
You want us to believe You
and we can't seem to trust You on our own strength,
so give us Your strength, guidance, and power
to believe when we don't know the answers or what is going to happen next.
Through the power of Your Spirit
which resides in each one of us believers in You,
Amen."
